How to FIND Topaz at TOPAZ MOUNTAIN
Open to Public Location. Learn how and where to find topaz mountain crystals in Utah. Finding topaz crystals is fun and easy. Learn what to look for. I tried out the public collection site instead of the pay to dig lease area with great success.

Ugh I have no idea where to go I've drove all over and the only place I've found is the miner adventure area or whatever

was that the fee area that’s in kind of a big bowl area? as you drive into the bowl the fee area is on the right? it has had many names. if that is where you were the area to the left across the bowl is the area open to the public without a fee. their claim only covers part of the bowl.

does it cost money to go?

the public area is free to the public. so just gas money. keep in mind there is nothing out there. the only only restroom is a portable one at the commercial site that is not available to people using the public site so go prepared for that.

I have found some nice ones as well as a lot of smaller lower quality ones. But I usually come away with some really nice ones. Have fun!

There is a paid area called Topaz Dome Quarry. Just south west of it is a non-paid public area. Last time i was there, there were signs pointing the way. That whole area is my favorite place to search. The quarry lets you work some rock from a blast area that is fun to look for the champaign colored topaz in the rock. Any of the washes around there will have topaz in both the paid and free areas.

Have you found topaz crystals? Do you prefer breaking open rocks or looking for loose crystals?

Went to private area and then the Claim in June (got Hot on us!), actually have no preference on how to find. Would love to be able to go back. But it's near 1600 miles away! :(
